Here's the "Before" picture. Yesterday I had to take a picture because Cameron was given half of a granola bar (and they have what, 5 chocolate chips total in them?). This was the result. Messy kid. Anyways, his hair was getting long and he was starting to sport a mullet in the back, so it was time for a haircut. There's no "During" picture because I had to hold him (my friend has a salon in her basement, so she cut his hair while Cameron sat on my lap fussing about it) -
- but here is the result. He looks so grown up with his hair trimmed, and he forgave me for the experience once he had a snack!
Cameron says only a few words still, but "cookie" is by far the word he pronounces the best. (Pointing works for most things he needs, but there is no room for error when he's asking for a treat!)
And here are the chefs who made the cookies possible! (I sent this picture to Daddy at work, and that huge tub of Crisco was his clue something tasty was in the works!)
Still with their aprons on, enjoying the results of their labors. Cameron was quite pleased to wake up from his nap to discover cookies (but who wouldn't be?).
Here are this year's entries in the elementary school's art contest:
In the Kindergarten category, we have Mr. Parker Arnold with the painting he calls, "Spring." He also glued on a fence from pieces of wood, which the judges will undoubtedly find to be a nice touch.
In the Third Grade category, we have Miss McKenzie Arnold with a painting she calls, "Easter." One can only wonder how the tiny Easter bunny, pictured far right, managed to fit that gigantic Easter egg in his basket! McKenzie was a very confident artist this year, explaining to her first-time kindergarten colleague, "I win every year." (Each student receives a participation ribbon!)
This doesn't need much explanation - Cameron says "yellow" by getting carried away using his tongue. I'm so glad Daddy made a video of it this morning because it's one of the many cute things I want to remember about little Cam Buddy.
Parker got this balloon from a birthday party he attended yesterday. He tied a little Lego man to the ribbon and wanted to play outside with it. I warned him the wind might blow it away from him. Later I discovered he had Kenzie write this message on it, I guess in case it did blow away. It says, "If you get this balloon, give it back please. I will give you a reward for getting it and bringing it back for me. Parker Arnold." (I'm tempted to hide the balloon for a few hours and try to collect on that reward!)
Here's Daddy and Kenzie, Feb. 2010, as he started his job at the University of Utah. We didn't understand at the time why the job was important - but it became clear when Allie was sent to the University Hospital that we needed the insurance. Besides that benefit, however, the job wasn't very impressive and Chris had looked for a long time for a better job...
...and this week he'll start working here at the Church's Riverton Office. It is only a few blocks from our house, so his commute has gone from 1.5 hours to 3 minutes!
We're proud of Daddy and excited for him to have found a better job!
Hooray! We finally went on our date! It was a joint present from both
sets of parents - my parents gave us the tickets to see Brian Regan for
Christmas, and Chris's parents watched the kiddos for us so we could go.
Brian Regan is very popular here in Utah because he's a clean comedian, and we think he's hilarious. He filled Energy Solutions Arena (this photo was when we first arrived, but it was packed by the time it started). He also had a show the next night that also was packed. That seems pretty impressive for one stand-up comedian to draw that kind of crowd.
Anyways, this is a goofy picture because it was too awkward to try and take a picture turned around like that so we were laughing about it, but here we are. It was a fun evening - we rode the train together, ate dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, walked around Temple Square, and then watched the show. It was a fun way to celebrate Chris's last day of work before starting a new job (!!!) next week.
Here you go - in case you aren't familiar with Brian Regan, I like this one he does about fig newtons. He didn't do this particular bit at the show, but he did come back on stage for an "encore" and did some of his older material, which was fun. Our faces hurt from smiling and laughing (also the lady next to me had one of those crazy laughs that you can't help but laugh at, so that didn't help!).
