Fitting In

When Duchess first arrived at our home, she spent a lot of time hiding under the bed and running away each time she heard busy, loud Cameron coming down the hall.  Now that she's been around a few months, however, she seems to realize all he's going to do is yell, "Hi, Dutch!" and maybe pet her head.  Here he was rolling around on the bed making all kinds of noises, and she just warily kept an eye on him, not willing to give up her cozy spot.
I couldn't get the boys to stop being goofy for a picture, but here Parker is about to fill up the cat's dish.  He checks it almost every morning without being asked (sometimes Kenzie does instead) and makes sure she has food and water.  Parker rarely sits and pets the cat, but he does love to give her a cat treat and make sure she's taken care of, which is sweet.  Duchess will follow him around if she suspects a treat is in store, and will eat it out of Parker's hand.
If Duchess has a favorite, though, it's Kenzie.  When Kenzie gets home from school, Duchess heads right in and makes herself at home on Kenzie's bed (or on Kenzie!).  Usually she sits right on top of Kenzie's homework, which makes Kenzie laugh each day.  Chris and I had debated about getting a pet for some time, so we are glad that Duchess has not lost her appeal to the kids!

Meet Albert

Isn't this hilarious?!?  Parker's class put on a "wax museum" on Friday where the kids dressed up like the famous people they researched.  Parker had picked that he wanted to learn about Albert Einstein.  I showed up a few minutes early to see if he needed help with the wig, but I walked in and he was sitting there just like this.  I got a good laugh out of it.  He took the "wax" part seriously and sat there waiting for parents to tap the "button" on the easel to activate his speech.
Cameron would not approach Parker, despite a lot of reassurance that the hairy fellow before him really was his big brother.  I had to be the one to press the "button" before Albert would stand up and give his speech for the video.  It's hard to hear since his teacher was talking, but it's still cute.  I was highly amused!

Silly Cameron

Just some randomness of this cute kid.  He had his kindergarten shots this week, and he was brave because he wanted to go to Carl's Jr. for lunch.
Inside a Lego.  He made me hold his coat so he could try and fit, and was quite pleased with himself.
He likes to set up a "store" along the coffee table.  Once everything is lined up, he tells me about each item, but I don't actually get to buy anything or take any of it.  It's a lousy business model, but still cute.
This was too funny - he fell asleep watching Parker play games on the phone.
Finally, my favorite - DJ Cameron.  He wore those headphones all the way through WinCo, too.  He got a few smiles as he sat in the cart bobbing his head and rocking out to Parker's mp3 player.  Such a goofy kid.  He makes me laugh on a regular basis!

Happy Valentine's Day

Our big 6th grader with her Valentine's box this morning.  (Her note on the front said, "Insert candy here.  Domo will keep it safe for you.")
Parker came up with the shark all on his own.  He has a sign on the fin that says, "Feed me!" and a sign on the side that says, "Please do not feed the shark."  He thought it was very clever and funny, and giggled to himself while he made it.
Cameron didn't want to be left out this morning, so here he's showing off the mailbox he made at preschool yesterday.  It was his first time receiving Valentines, and he was beaming when he came home with the stuffed mailbox.  Happy Valentine's Day!
