Quarantine, Continued

Funny the little things that excite them - the other day we went through the McDonald's drive thru and then watched a movie during our "picnic" in the front room.  Smiles all around.
When it's not snowing (!!) we have gone for a quick walk around the block.  It's about as exciting as it sounds, but it gets us outside!  We always cut through the middle school's field, and Cameron (who always claims he doesn't want to go on a walk) literally runs in wide circles the whole time!
Plenty of time for playing games and watching TV!
Earlier in the month, Chris worked a ton of hours, and so did everyone else in the company, dealing with a huge security breach.  As compensation, he was given this Friday off of work.  We had planned to go to the temple and go out to lunch together before the kids got home from school... instead I used the carpet cleaner and we all sat around.  We did get pizza, so there was that.
Many games have been played this week, too.  I've also been reading Bunnicula aloud to the kiddos.
Online schoolwork continues.  Here they were both having conferences with their classmates, which was cute.  The poor kids miss the social interactions, I can tell, with how they perk up to be able to chat with the other kids.  Cameron's teacher especially has been sweet setting up two times a day where the kids get online and show off their favorite stuffed animal, play a class game, or the teacher will read a story to everyone.
More screen time!  Kenzie is always working on something for her classes, but she's started playing some computer games, too.
Here was Friday night.  I joked I felt left out, since I'm the only one without a laptop!

Quarantine, the Beginning

Saturday was "Pi Day" 3/14, so Kenzie made a chocolate truffle pie!  I had managed to find heavy cream at Walmart on Friday while the world was going nuts and the grocery stores were emptying.  That was an extremely disconcerting feeling to walk through grocery stores with many bare shelves (and it took going to three of them just to get milk!).
The boys didn't mind at all spending the next several days hanging out.  They played computer games and built all sorts of things out of Legos.
Wednesday they started doing their schoolwork online (or, they were supposed to.  Cameron only did the lessons that appealed to him, and then went back to playing games.  He didn't quite get it at first!).  Wednesday we also had an earthquake first thing in the morning, and then aftershocks the rest of the day.  After already being a little tense with being stuck inside due to Coronavirus, I was not amused to have the whole house rattle.  One problem at a time would be preferable!  Thankfully we were far enough away from the epicenter that nothing was damaged.
Besides going for some walks around the block, we haven't left the house in a week.  I always work from home, so in some ways it wasn't that different, but it was still strange.  I did finally venture out again yesterday alone for milk, and was pleasantly surprised to not only be able to get milk, but also a package of toilet paper.  The boys are still having a great time having an excuse to be on the computer constantly.  Not all of it is schoolwork by a long shot!
Kenzie has been a good sport.  She lifts her little weights or does exercises for her PE class while she watches videos on her laptop.  Totally a weird experience for everyone!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Well, yep!  Happy Green Food Coloring Day!  After the picture Chris looked around and said, "Wait, was I the only one not putting the coins in my eyes?"  The kids thought they were so funny!

Lately

I haven't had much to post about lately.  I was given a new position at work, so now I'm a Team Lead over a group of transcribers.  It's a few more hours a week than I'm used to, so I'll need to find that new groove of when to actually mop the floor/exercise/recover my sanity, but I'll get there.  Since everything happens at once, I was just called today to be Young Women's Camp Coordinator, and Chris was asked to go to Youth Conference the following week this summer (there go all our vacation days!).
But, in between all that change, there have been a few things we've been doing.  I'm still over Activity Days.  Last week we had some leftover piggy banks so we talked about tithing and the kiddos had fun painting them.
We finally primed the bedroom in the basement!  Kenzers did all the corners for us.  As always, progress is just so much slower than we'd like, but priming the walls helped it feel a bit more like a real room.
Parker's the only one who's been on any sort of adventure lately - he got to go ice fishing yesterday with his buddies.
Parker was so proud that he caught 4 fish!
His friend's mom was kind enough to send me the pictures she took.  He came home completely exhausted but he had a great day!
He brought the snow home with him, apparently, since it has snowed all day long today!  Spring still feels a long way off.  Happy March!
