Jog-a-Thon

Cute little Cam Buddy getting ready to run in circles for his school's fundraiser.
I didn't get any in-action shots of Cameron, because I had to help place tally marks on the kids' papers, but Cameron really tried and ran hard!  He ran 14 laps, and said, "Darn, one less than my high score!"
Luckily for me, Parker's grade ran right after Cameron's, so I didn't have to come back twice this year.  Parker saw me and promptly gave me a hug and handed me his water bottle to hold!
It was getting a little warm out, and the fifth graders did not pace themselves well, but Parker was still all smiles as he jogged around.
All sweaty at the end before heading off to enjoy his otter pop reward.  At least both of the boys gave me several hugs and were glad to see me, since otherwise I can usually see plenty of them running around at home!

Any Excuse for Cake

Kenzie insisted we needed to "celebrate" that we've had Duchess the cat for two years now.  Since we don't know her actual birthday, I guess this is the equivalent of that.  The kids gave her extra treats, and we baked a cake after church Sunday.  (Cameron asked, "Mom, is the cake for the humans?"  When I said yes, then he was excited!)
The cat where she can usually be found, nestled among Kenzie's many blankets.
Kenzie had her own idea for the cake, and she colored the frosting and piped it all on herself.  She was quite pleased with how it turned out!

Soccer Season

The craziness of fall soccer season has been upon us this month.  Kenzie and Parker both have practices and games each week (thankfully Cameron is just happy to play on the playground while he waits).  Here Parker was eating his lunch during Kenzie's game this Saturday, because afterwards he was going straight to his game.
Kenzie and her good buddy Kiera.  They are joined at the hip lately, so it's been fun for them to be on the same team again.
Parker heading out the other week for a super early 8:00 am game.
Some in action shots of Kenzers during one of her early morning games.
Both kids are doing much better than ever before, and really hustle out there trying to help their team.  It's been fun to watch them improve!

Labor Day

Our little baker assembling his chocolate cupcakes.  For Labor Day, we went to Grandma & Grandpa Arnold's house to celebrate all the summer birthdays.  I told Cameron we'd sing Happy Birthday to him, and he was astonished.  "Again?"  What a great deal to get to re-use his number 6 candle one last time!  He wanted chocolate cupcakes.  At first he helped pipe the frosting on top, but finally we got a system going where I put the frosting on, and he took care of the chocolate sprinkles.
Kenzers telling me the water was too cold to swim in!  (Ironically she finally went swimming after dinner, when it was probably even colder!)
Parker and Cameron wasted no time at all getting into the lake.  They claimed it was fine until their teeth chattered later, and then they got out willingly.
Cameron got $25 from his grandparents.  He held up the bills and exclaimed, "A five and a twenty!"  I said, "How much is that?"  He yelled, "I don't know, but it's the mother lode!"  That made us laugh.
Everyone singing.  I loved Cameron's expressions here.  He was quite happy.  Just like that, summer is officially over for another year!
